Mu* Zoo
Multi User Virtual Reality... one of my favorite hobbies and something I tended to waste a lot of time on when I should be doing something else. They are kinda like chat rooms puffed up way bigger and a lot more interactive. Since there are so many different kinds of them, people just tend to classify them all as Mu*s. Lemme tell you about the three I frequented the most. MUSH - Muti-User Social Hallucination. Heh, the internet high, huh? Well maybe. These are the pure role-playing Mu*s. You go on, make up a char and interact with everyone you see. I guess you could compare it to a vast AD&D game or something but one in which there is nothing that can really die. You really can't do to much to affect the game world or chars besides building and even that's limited. It does have a lot of fun, creative perks though. Mushes tend to be themed. The one I used to hang out on all the time was Two Moons and Elven Bane.. both ElfQuest themed places. In one I played Tivao (big surprise!) and the second I played the enigmatic Darkwing. But forwarned though, Mushes are notorious for TS (that's tiny sex if you didn't know) and trust me, sometimes it gets tricky finding a way of getting out of that. If the very idea of someone approaching you in that way bugs you or you don't have enough willpower to get away when it starts, don't even go there. MUCK - Not exactly sure what this one means. o.o Well its kinda like a Mush only with different code. I hung out on the ever-cool Dragon Muck before it died as the elven Avatar, Kaydion Cerion. And on Anime Muck before it got old, as Youko Kurama (big surprise huh? ;) MUD - Multi-User Dungeon. Ok role-playing fans this is the real deal and my favorite spot. This is the true place to role-play, fight, die, kill or ally with others, group up, wage wars or sit around and chit-chat with a keg of mead and pipeweed bread. My all time favorite place is Dead of Night a custom MUD that the way-cool Malice created... at least I did up until they killed it with modifications. There I played as the Kitsune Tivao, youko supreme and pure shifter. I was also one of the creators and Leader of a clan called Watchers. DoN rocked in its day. You could do so much there and since the visitors are encouraged to build, it never grew old! Sigh.. oh well. Mu*Chars
