Rizzen Delarian

He started off as an NPC to my cousin’s game that I took over to help her out. And he turned into the most involved character I have ever played. He is also what started out a string of very androgynous male characters that half the time couldn’t be determined as not a female from appearances. It was because of him that the infamous Kinno was born.

Rizzen is the first Avariel I ever played and also the most powerful character. My cousin took the rules of AD&D and tossed them out the window. You could play almost anything you can imagine as long as it wasn’t a monster and it was a very high magic world. Combat is very scarce here and most things ride on mental thought and role-playing. A lot of the story centers around two twin Avariels, Rizzen and Dezaryn… the former is beautiful and powerful enough to be considered a Demi-God and his brother is a warrior of incredible skill. A lot of this breaks through every rule of game play that there is! For one, Rizzen is hopelessly obsessed with his own twin. But since twins are considered a single soul in two bodies, it lends an almost narcissistic flare. It’s almost like saying he’s in love with himself.

Rizzen’s eternal flaw was his peaceful, gentle nature. He’s powerful enough to blow a major city off the face of the planet, but he’s too kind-hearted and hates violence. It’s the balance to his ridiculous power level. He’s also considered the most pure creature of all. He was violated (in game even!) at one point as the bad guys (who are PCs!) were trying to harness his pure soul. That set off his twin on a rampage of destruction out of rage. At one point, Rizzen was being held prisoner by the Amazon nation for the bad guys and Dezaryn almost genocided the whole lot of them for messing with his brother.

The whole story is an epic the likes of Lord of the Rings. It’s been running for 4 years now going on 5, non-stop. It had broadened my horizons of game play and goes into such realistic issues that it drives you to think hard and long.
